“Traveling Northwards, the Neivonic range continues until it meets the vast snowplains (called Folrru’n or “the White Mysteries”) of the Kingdom of Spades, whose castle and keep are bunkers of enormous stone protected by permanent glacial snowdrifts the size of mountains themselves. It is a lovely, if isolated land, if one enjoys that sort of thing. It was said to once be populated by countless disparate clans until united under one banner by the previous King of and Queen of Spades. Their battles against the Goblins across the fields of Casperan (or “ghostlands") were numerous and legendary. But, tragically, his last brave, shirtless charge into the heart of a Goblin Horde was cut short by a profound (and not unexpected) fireball. That this was done as sacrifice to protect his many warriors only served to increase their ferocity (and his legend), both in that battle and those to come. Along the land, one’s senses are still accosted by a great number of discarded shirts mounted on upright shovels (or “spades” as the local would have it.) This tableau is a common memorial within the kingdom, becoming almost a bordereau to his sacrifice. After his demise, the Queen of Spades maintained solitary rulership for a time, and was so fierce a general that when she, too, was taken in battle (slaying the were-dragon in revenge for The King) the Spades became a matriarchal society, putting in place a Black Queen and a Red Queen to lead their forces.” From: Ales and Travails: The Travel Journals of Arcturus Caine Ladies and gentlemen, the Legacy of House Spades: To the Last Man: In recognition of their heroic fighting style and robust lust for life, House Spades may sacrifice one current Spades team member during a game to remove any one team member of any House, including the Goblins, from the field of play. No House, including the Goblins, may be affected by this Legacy more than once per game. Removal of the last player on a team is permitted. House Spades earns 5 House Points every time this legacy is used.
