Treat for a street friend. Normally we dont give names and pictures of our street friends for their protection more than anything else but john wanted to share today with everyone. This lad bleeds Newcastle United, everytime we talk to him the conversation always turns to it, he told us that on match days he goes to the stadium just to feel the atmosphere and loves to see everyone in March spirit. He mentioned that he would love to go to a match again so we stepped in ;) Numerous phone calls and emails were sent but all seemed to hit dead ends so we asked on facebook if anyone could help, a few people came forward with offers which was unbelievable but then something great happened! Wendy Taylor head of media from Newcastle United gave me a ring, she apologised for taking so long but was reading up on all the posts from the group, she said she was touched and would love to help out :) :) and she did in an amazing way!! Well today came, I met john early in newcastle and we went for something to eat. Once we had our fill we made our way to the stadium early on her instructions, when we got there we were greeted by Wendy and issued with vip passes, we were shown round the stadium and behind the scenes then on to pitch side n the dugouts to greet the players as they arrived, we met most of the team, stepping back a bit and watching g john soak up the atmosphere that he talks of so much was magical! This was his day and nothing was stopping it! They say a picture says a thousand words but as many as I could get will never explain the delight he was feeling, in fact what we both felt. As the stadium filled up we felt like celebrities mingling around the dugouts with players and officials, press taking photos of us unsure who we were, people in the stands watching us... Brilliant. We were taken for some food and then back pitch side, shaking hands with everyone and there until after the whistle went for kick off standing with the managers! We took our seats in the vip area behind the dugouts and watched the game, we had a fantastic time (apart from the result) we were chatting and laughing like we have been mates for years it was fantastic! After the game we were invited to the press conferences and as all day given the full vip treatment, John carver gave john his bench coat and it made the day even more special for him! After the match as we were walking back john couldnt express his gratitude enough, told him he didnt have to, this was his day and everyone at mww will be over the moon that hes had such a good time. Honestly I wish you could see it, walking out of the tunnel that so many players have onto the pitch and looking round in awe at the stadium watching him bask in the moment was like something out of a movie, I think this day will stay with me and John for the rest of our lives. #onelove #teamMWW #OPsafewinter
