Tremendous healing can come out of tremendous pain, but I think - TopicsExpress

Tremendous healing can come out of tremendous pain, but I think more often than not, we must act with tremendous courage in order for that healing to occur. Our courage and moral integrity must be infallible. Having courage doesnt mean we arent deeply afraid. (It so often means being afraid yet finding the will to act anyway.) And courage and moral integrity doesnt mean we always know precisely what to do, or what not to do. The world does not operate in black and white terms, and so often the moral thing is the unpopular thing, or the thing that, by societys standards, disempowers you. Having tremendous courage and moral integrity means aligning yourself with truths inside that are often so deep they may have long gone unspoken (for so many reasons.) It means listening to a voice inside ourselves that rings with a clarity and tone this world is hellbent on drowning out - and the doing so can literally be dangerous. It means aligning ourselves with higher truths that transcend ALL of our constructs, including religion, race, country, money, culture, power, and family. A society bent on bowing to the material, bent on its power addictions and its illusions, will try to tell you that such truths do not exist - that this ideology or that ideology - that those are our only authorities. But any ideology that devalues ANY human life or the ability to sustain life on this planet is one that has veered from those universal truths - the very truths Jesus, Mohammad, the Buddha and countless saints and mystics spoke to us about. Those truths arent limiting. They arent judgmental and exclusionary; they are not predicated on hatred, blame and seeing other human beings as less than. But remembering those truths, and remembering and knowing the TRUTH of ourselves, and our natural-born right to a life free of fear, trauma, and what has come to be modern-day slavery - in fact, simply remembering and fully knowing that we have a right to vitality, to a life where we are afforded enough time, space and dignity to fully know ourselves as unique individuals - that in itself is something we have well and fully stomped on, as a society, so it can seem barely retrievable in the chaos and cacophony, of what we accept as normal. Tremendous healing is fully possible, even out of tremendous pain. But it will take tremendous courage: first to know yourself honestly, and to assign any culpability fairly (and with radical integrity), and next to remember how to hear your higher truth, and the higher truths of the world. And what was once a sound, silenced by the deafening madness of what weve together become, what we demand of each other day in, day out, to uphold our own lives in societies that are crumbling under the weight of their own hypocrisy and increasing cruelty, will become a song again. And you will know it as a long-lost friend. Perhaps as salvation, perhaps as salvation for a broken world - as long as you remain true.
