Tremendous talk tonight gents. I am on fire. Some of my favorite points follow (though feel free to correct me): Jim: we could soon be able to copy a brain, download consciousness and achieve immortality. Jim: Religion is borrowed ethics -like a child who is told not to touch the stove; we need to experience it to understand it. Jim: The Arab spring is unprecedented in its lack of leaders (!!) Daniel: Occupy was like a cell of a new body. Jim: If we stop all carbon emissions now, it would still take 1000 years for levels to drop (!!) Jim talks to people like the heads of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan and says that THEY no longer have faith in the system. They know it is a house of cards, but dont have an alternative [yet]. Amazingly, between these two, Jim played the more radical part of advocating for revolution over a slow evolution. Jim: Great and fast shifts are possible when enough consciousness changes - if enough people wake up to the reality of our situation. (@Jim - this is the mission of the Pachamama Alliance by the way. They are also created a segment uptous.org which is attempting to put in place a lot of what you all talked about tonight. Happy to introduce you if you are interested.) Audience: If we do not evolve spiritually and morally, the next civilization we build will be just as messed up. SO we have to start with ourselves.
