Tri-colored Head-shot ~ This friendly Tri-colored Heron was fishing right next to the boardwalk at Wakodahatchee Wetlands. I was actually pointing my lens through the wooden rails of the walkway so that I could get a bit lower and closer to it. It was really taking its time fishing, and would occasionally stand up tall and stop moving for a moment which would allow for some sort of framing and proper focus to be achieved. The sun was a bit high at this point in the day and behind the bird but there was enough refleciton off the water and the boardwalk to nicely fill in the shadow side. I love the coloration of these birds and this one has a nice pair of long white head feathers hanging down.
