Tribune Armed robbers burgle police shopping complex Written by Ademola Adegbite- Lafia Sunday, 28 July 2013 02:19 A shopping complex belonging to the Nasarawa State command of the Nigeria Police force, beside its officers’ mess, was on Saturday morning, burgled by armed robbers who carted away valuables worth several millions of naira. Investigations by Sunday Tribune revealed that the armed robbers, who gained entrance through the roof of one of the shops, began the operation around 1.00 am and burgled all the shops before daybreak. Four shops, according to the investigations, were burgled with unsubstantial amount of money, laptops, Ipads and new sets of cloths were carted away, while some items were said to have been destroyed. Confirming the incident on phone in Lafia, the state capital, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), Cornelius Ocholi said the incident was not robbery but theft because the rightful owners of the shops had left before the thieves entered after them. He said the police immediately commenced investigation into the matter and perpetrators would be brought to book.
