Tribute to my Foster Mother, Mrs Florence Anagor. Oduko, a wonderful woman, full of warmth, life and vigour. The greatest flaw u had was that you were too emotional, compassionate and ever so kind. I remember coming to Awka as a poor student. Seeking for accommodation and u took me in, no rent collected, no questions asked. You took in a poor stranger, fed me and treated me like your own daughter if not better. You were a very hard working woman, working tirelessly to see your family clothed and fed, a strong pillar, despite the fact that your life was very hard, you were ever so cheerful, dancing at the slightest provocation, no matter the problems that faced you. You toiled hard, from your youth till the day you died. I remember the phone call in the middle of the night, to tell me that you had passed. I cried bitter tears, but I am comforted by the fact that your good works will stand you in good stead before the Master. I saw you on the 2nd of January, never knowing that it will be the last time. So many things left unsaid, but I know that by my words and actions towards you, you know how I felt about you. My life has been changed by you, I have learnt to be kinder to people and never to wear my sorrows on my sleeves. We will all miss you terribly, your children will mourn you for years to come, but your life will be celebrated by us all, in our words and our actions. I am glad u lived to see me married and settled, meeting Ebubedike and Olaedo, Chimeremeze will have to be content with our stories of you. God bless you and may your family reap the fruits you have sown. Oduko Nmba, laa nke oma, the Master needs you and has called you home. Please go to your well deserved rest, enjoy the fruits of your labour, which you could not do here. Good night and sleep well.
