Tried to take Gar into the city today to see his oncologist but the roads past the 39 mile junction were awful so we turned back. On the way there though we met a police road block that was advising all west bound traffic to detour around a part of the road that goes between two big sloughs around the Dixon area. We werent sure what happened or why but in returning we could see a part of the road was marked out by the police and the rails going into the water on the south side of the road were plowed down in a section. Ive been told that a taxi carrying railroad crew workers went off into the water there. My understanding is that the driver has passed away but the crew swam safely to shore. As you go about your day today please keep the driver and his loved ones and the crew and those who love them in your thoughts and prayers. Be thankful for those you love still being within arms reach and know that no matter how hard this day may be that drivers family would trade you in a heartbeat.
