Trinamool MPs raise issues concerning Bengal in Lok Sabha ********************************** Trinamool MPs Aparupa Poddar and Suvendu Adhikari today raised several issues facing Bengal during the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha. On a discussion of matters of urgent public importance, Tamluk MP Suvendu Adhikari raised the issue of crisis in Haldia port. He said that more than Rs 50000 crore has been invested by private investors in Haldi. But the port was facing problems due to silting in river Hooghly and Haldi. He demanded that Haldia Port Trust Authority be set up as soon as possible. Capital dredging must carried out at Haldia port as early as possible by a private company through e-tender, and not by Dredging Corporation of India, Mr Adhikari Speaking during the same motion, Arambagh MP Aparupa Poddar raised the issue of floods in Arambagh sub-division of Hooghly district due to release of water from upper regions of Damodar. A Central scheme over Damodar region is needed to save Arambagh sub-division and Uluberia sub-division of Howrah District. I will urge upon the Ministry of Water Resource to take up the matter immediately and ensure enough dredging of Damodar, she said. Later during the day, Joynagar MP Pratima Mandal spoke in the Lok Sabha on the issue of protection of mangroves.
