Trinidad and Tobago Newsday Dont give up By STACY MOORE Wednesday, January 29 2014 PRESIDENT Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona yesterday revealed plans to hire differently-abled students to work at the residence of the president during the upcoming August holidays. The president was yesterday speaking during a tour of the National Centre for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) in San Fernando. Speaking to NCPD Chief Executive Officer, Dr Beverly Beckles, chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr Natalie Dick and other officials at one of the classrooms, Carmona said he had started a project quietly at President’s House where students were being employed. Students from Form Five, Six and First Year university students, he said have started working at the President’s House. “I’m hoping this year it would be more structured, and I am prepared to employ one or two of your students of the NCPD, during the August holidays,” the president said. He also said they were looking for students with knowledge in the fields of information technology, filing, computers and other areas. He said that there would also be future discussions with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar where there would be possibilities of employing persons with disabilities in the Prime Minister’s Office, and other government offices as well.
