Tripadvisor. Today we hear from a woman who tells us she was refused a booking in a Derry hotel this coming August, because of things her friends had said about the premises last year on Tripadvisor. Tracey Rutherford was part of an all female group of bikers who were on a fundraising trip across N Ire last year. They raised over £20K for Macmillan Cancer. After their overnight stay in Derry, a small number of what was a very large party went on Tripadvisor to express their thoughts about their stay. Tracey was not one of those who posted feedback, but says that the Aparthotel on Strand Rd refused her latest booking for this coming summer when they realised she was part of the biker group that had included members who had been critical about their last stay. Aparthotel disagree. They dont want to join us on air today, but tell us that ~ the hotel is now fully booked on the night in question ~ that Tracey had neglected to confirm her booking this time round, and ~ that the manager in question never refused her booking on the grounds that she was a member of a party who said negative things about the business online. Meanwhile, Tracey still needs about 90 reasonably priced bednights in Derry on the 23rd August ... [1.30]
