Tripura Governor dissatisfied with work (By Telegraph special correspondent) Agartala, Oct. 14: Nagaland governor P.B. Acharya who holds additional charge of Tripura, today expressed “grave reservations” over the quality of fencing work along the state’s 856km border with Bangladesh. “I was totally dismayed by the quality of work executed because this fragile fencing can be cut and infiltrated through anytime by any person or group,” he said during an interaction with reporters at Raj Bhavan here today. Acharya said the quality of fencing “does not justify the high expenses incurred in putting them in place”. He, however, appreciated the Indo-Bangla initiative to launch more than 50 haats (market) along the border and said that it would lead to a heightening of “people-to-people contact”. “Relations based on trade and commerce always leads to greater friendship and I am sure the plan to open border haats will go a long way in improving bilateral relation with Bangladesh,” he said. Acharya yesterday visited two sites of proposed border haats in the Srinagar area under South Tripura’s Sabroom subdivision and the Kamala Sagar area, 35km southwest of Agartala town in West Tripura district.
