Trivia Tuesday! So go the feet, so goes the dog- The feet are so important in a working breed, like the tires on your car they offer traction, absorption of terrain, and provide foreword momentum. They put the power literally to the ground. Feet on the Siberian should be hare shaped, acting like a snowshoe. Cat feet (while they look like cute not designed for snow travel) are also incorrect. The breed needs to stay above the snow. This is one of the reasons wolves are more successful in winter hunts. Deer hooves go straight through the snow, while the paws on wolves keep them above it. Splayed feet have been suggested to have a relation to joint problems, since they are the result of weak tendons that should hold the feet tight together.
