Tropical depression 5 has formed in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa. This storm will likely become tropical storm Erin first before the gulf coast storm. This storm is expected to develop into a moderate strength tropical storm before slowing development speed while crossing the Atlantic. The gulf coast storm is still a significant threat to the southeast and the Mid-Atlantic region (us) so all eyes should be kept on that system. Some models are showing this getting as high as category 1 hurricane status so things could go south very quickly.
