Tropical forests may be absorbing far more human-emitted carbon - TopicsExpress

Tropical forests may be absorbing far more human-emitted carbon dioxide than many scientists thought. This is based on a new study that reconciles scientific views of climate change and forest scientists. The study estimates for the first time that tropical forests absorb 1.4 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide out of a total global absorption of 2.5 billion, in response to rising atmospheric levels of the greenhouse gas. The clear message is that we should protect and conserve Tropical forests and grow more forest plantations. Thus SFM is the way forward for 2015 and beyond.
