True Generosity should not be limited to some sort of once off donations to charities or some gift parcels dropped off at community centers and NGO doors to be noticed, it should be everyones desire to see that poverty is alleviated but not nursed and bred by once off gifts, poverty is a disease that starts in the minds of the victims and then its strengthened and complimented by an exploitative system of capitalism, corrupt governments also have an hand in keeping poverty afloat, some people are preoccupied by this disease(poverty) to an extent that all other things dont matter to them, ie family, moral values and all causes of social ills. Generosity should not be demonstrated in festive season only where the rich and middle class parade themselves as generous people by cooking nice meals for homeless people. Since we know that there are a number of factors that sustains poverty in society today, why wouldnt a generous person get directly involved into initiatives to uproot the causes of dire poverty from our society by spending his time and money extending a gesture of love, talking to these people, educating them by showing them the right way. Temporary donations only works as a reprieve for a day or two after which the recipients are back to face the scourge and reality of poverty, generosity must be demonstrated by being proactive in fighting the causes of poverty, The fight must be intensified and continuous, it must involve everyone rich or poor because out of poverty people discharge anger and all sorts of criminality that affect everyone, you must never feel safe because you are yet to be a victim of violent crime and you leaving in high security gates with 24hr surveillance, crime has no boundaries as you can be easily meet your day outside your home. Those people in the shacks and dilapidated houses some of whom survive after their sons or men have to commit crime need to be helped, if neglected they are giving birth to more kids that will be a problem to society. People need to be educated on basic life skills and need to be reminded that the best way to come out poverty is not resorting to crime but to start with A----z, remember poverty is associated with illiteracy and ignorance and much more at at a larger extent, this is due to lack of information, the history of family background and related issues, we must not overly condemn these people because its not the liking of the majority of these them. vukanionline.co.za
