True story about my father and a #UFO in Dallas: As some of you - TopicsExpress

True story about my father and a #UFO in Dallas: As some of you already know, I had a much older father - as in, I was born two months prior to his 58th birthday. As a result of this, I can honestly say that I had a father who was a WWII vet and who worked for Braniff Airlines both before and after the war. Sometime around 1950, he was working for Braniff out at Dallas Love Field, often spending his free time visiting with the ATC. It was during one of these visits that he discovered them all anxiously watching their radar, apparently seeing an enormous cigar-shaped craft somewhere over northern Texas. The ATC there in Dallas called other air traffic controllers in Oklahoma City and Little Rock, hoping they could all triangulate on this mysterious object. It was seen on the radar in these three cities for the next several minutes before it finally shot directly up above the clouds and disappeared. All of the newspapers in the region (and perhaps even the country) reported this at the time. Then.... silence. There was no further news about that encounter being reported by anyone. My father decided to have another visit with the ATC to learn what had happened and if anything new had developed. As soon as he started to ask, one of the controllers took him aside and immediately hushed him. He explained that some government men had told them that they could no longer discuss this event and had even threatened them should they continue to talk. I have no idea what these threats included, but it was apparently enough to scare these controllers into silence, essentially killing the story. ------ My father died in January, 2013, so I can no longer ask him about his account. I can still say that Ive heard this story my entire life, always amazed at its consistency over the years. Though Im mostly a skeptic when it comes to UFOs, I still sit up and pay attention whenever these stories include the airlines or anything involving a cigar-shaped UFO. Something happened that day in Dallas. Something continues to happen, often involving very similar accounts of cigar-shaped UFOs, including accounts made by pilots. (Think of the famous America West case over western Texas in the 90s.) It isnt my place to say whether these are aliens, man-made or something else we cannot even imagine. All I can do is wonder...
