Truth Without Sugar Matthew 12:34-37…Well we can see that the Pharisees chose to make their tree bad and therefore their fruit was also bad. Jesus asked an incriminating question here, “How can you being evil speak what is good?” WOW that is saying allot. Jesus is stating that they are evil and can’t speak any good because their hearts are full of evil. This evil is not what many automatically go to as demons and such it can be and probably is more along the idea of their thoughts, plans, ideas, their conspiring against Jesus. These things are all evil to the Lord. Look at the six things Lord hates in Proverbs 6:16-19, these probably fit the Pharisees very well in all their deeds. How much does it take before a heart starts to relay evil and turn our thoughts into actions of the mind and body? When we continue with evil thoughts and action you are creating a habit that will be hard to get out of. Sarcasm is the same way it sinks in deep to the inner person and multiplies evil words, hateful words that we disguise as joking. Proverbs 17:13 says “He who returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house” and who does that transfer to? the people in your house as well. Jesus counters with,” but the good man brings out of his good treasure what is good” because that is the way the good man thinks (Philippians 4:8). With verse 36 -37 we see that we will be justified by our words or you will be judged by our words, what does that mean to you? We are justified by accepting the Lord by saying Lord come into my life for I am a sinner in need of saving and admitting we are sinners or we can refuse and send ourselves to the final judgment of God at the end of days. Will you be justified or judged by your words? 2 Cor 5:10 “We will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” and Rom 14:10.
