Truth Without Sugar Matthew 17:14-21… As we go into this section here we need to remember that Matthew was writing to the Jewish believers, the ones who knew what they should be doing and were not. Today we have Christians out there who are questioning God and doubting His promises because they have lost some faith and belief somewhere in life. True, Matthew’s choice of words here seems harsh compared to Mark, but haven’t you ever been stumped by a believer in their actions? (They should know better). We must have faith, at least, the size of a mustard seed. Do you know how little faith that is??????? And that is all it takes but many times we give that up as well. The Lord will put up with true ignorance (lacking information) but when you know better and still choose pity or excuse, then, the Lord plays it harder with us because we as Christians are to be at a certain level in our walk. Continual growth is needed, don’t slip back to the “Milk” of the word. Sure our faith will lack a little bit here and there but we are not to wallow in that pity area. When we go against Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my strength and shield, My heart trusts in Him and I am helped” and we turn to trust in other people words because we have given up on the Lord, He can no longer be a shield to us because we are seeking help from another, KNOWING that the Lord is our help. We leave the Lord because of worry. Psalm 37:8-9, fretting causes evil doing (Going away from the Lord as in my first example) but for those who wait for the Lord will inherit the land, Take ground from Satan don’t give it up freely. We need to remember that God is our refuge and strength, and if you’re paying attention, He is “a very present help in times of trouble” but if your trusting in others then you can’t sense or receive the help of the Lord because you are distracted, but we also can’t give up and give in my friends, (Psalm 46:1). Isaiah 40:28, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, Creator does not get weary and His understanding we cannot challenge. (He knows what we know and how we apply what we know of His word) and He will add strength and might when we need it but if you doubt? Why expect anything? Stay strong in your faith in the Lord.
