MDC-T President Morgan Tsvangirai nominated Robert Mugabe to be to be the Head of State and Government during the Global Political Agreement negotiations brokered by Former South African President Thabo Mbeki, we exclusively reveal. A Senior South African based Civic society leader and former Advisor to Tsvangirai revealed on Monday that when he interviewed Mbeki for a book he was writing it was revealed that during the negotiations Tsvangirai allegedly proffered that Mugabe is the only one who can control the securocrats therefore he must be given the Presidency. This is despite the fact that Tsvangirai had come first in the March 2013 harmonised elections. The MDC-T is currently embroiled in a nasty leadership debate that is threatening to split the party. A faction led by Deputy Treasurer General Elton Mangoma is calling for the resignation of Tsvangirai from the Presidency. Zimbabweans have for long blamed President Mbeki for endorsing Mugabe to be the President of Zimbabwe during the negotiations.
