Tuesday 27th Aug, 2013. THE MOST IMPORTANT GIFT 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift”. (2 Corinthians 9:15). What do you desire so much in life? In Psalm 103:5, we learnt that God satisfies us with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagles. One of the things that border the women folk, is the big issue of aging, this is because it comes with a lot of stress, from menopausal distress to wrinkles on the face and neck, weak bones etc. Women in the natural sense would therefore desire youthful looks no matter their age. It is often said that young ladies never exceed the age of 19-20 yrs; they tend to keep reducing the number of years as they celebrate birthdays. There is however the greatest gift that covers every of our desires, whether male or female. That gift is indescribable. We have been looking at God’s grace poured out for our relationship with Him, in the last eight weeks. Today’s scripture draws our attention to the power of this ageless gift. Our God is the Ancient of Days; He is ageless and will remain so to eternity. He promises us in His word, to grant the desires of our hearts if our ways please Him. “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). When God blesses us, His gifts are without sorrow and because He is aware of our needs according to order of preference, He decided to send us Salvation. “SALVATION” as the word is, is the greatest the most important gift we all need and because there is only one way to receive this special gift i.e. grace, God had to let His one and only Son Jesus to offer to us through His death on the cross. We read in Zechariah’s prophecy, how he praised God for raising up a horn of salvation for us, salvation from our enemies to show us mercy as He swore an oath with Abraham His servant and friend. See (Luke 1:67-79). Grace then abounds since the time of our forefathers, as we see in the account of Abraham’s life, how long he lived and his wife Sarah who bore a son in her old age. The same grace that abound with Abraham and Sarah, the grace of renewal of strength even in old age as told of Moses, Caleb and many others. Thus; we can truly say, the most important gift we need is not that house, car, job, spouse or any other thing but SALVATION’ as Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 “Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well”. Permit me to repeat the opening question, “What do you desire so much in life? Perhaps you have been saved already and you are going through a stressful experience in your walk with Christ, surrounded by trials and temptations. Receive good news today, that there is a surpassing grace given you by God which is able to keep you. The indescribable gift! As described in our text for today. Apostle Paul, the writer of today’s words as faced with difficult trials and temptations after he received Christ to master his life and through all prayers and request of God to take away a burden, Jesus said to him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my prayer is made perfect in weakness”. Same grace is available for us child of God, let us lean on Him, the indescribable gift”. Prayer: O Redeemer! How can I ever thank you enough? Your indescribable gift is overwhelming. I just want to say “I LOVE YOU JESUS! For further study, kindly read: Psalm 37:3-7, Luke 1:67-79.
