Tuesday 3rd October Koala Room Update: Today within the Koala room we spent all of our day inside as bad smoke occurred outside from a nearby fire. Lilly and Jadia expressed themselves creatively and exposed themselves to sustainability as they used recycled materials such as recycled paper, leaves and stick to create beautiful natural collages. Possum Room Update: What a busy day the Possum children had today! This morning Sammy put shaving cream and glitter paint in the trough for the children to experience a sensory activity. The children had such excited facial expressions as they began to play with the shaving cream. Darcey felt the shaving cream with her hands and squished it between her fingers, “Like worms” Liana said. Brodie put his fingers in the shaving cream and smeared the glitter paint through, “Like a rainbow” he said to Sammy as he watched the different colours mix together. Bilby Room Update: Today in the Bilby room the children got involved in climbing as they scaled the ladders using their developing gross motor skills. The little Bilby’s did a lot of physical activity today as we had dancing play inside and “jump jump” games with Mel and Sarah, the children were very hungry after a very busy day of running around that they all sat quietly enjoying the yummy sandwiches mummy and daddy prepared for them. Platypus Room Update: Friends in the sand today made a yummy stew using water, sand and bark. They enjoyed adding different things from the yard and using the utensils to mix it all into a big mush. Freya was busy today reading books and playing with the felt board. This is a great resource for children to create different scenarios, make up their own stories and create unique characters. Kangaroo Room Update: Today the children enjoyed a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. Oliver and Jackson decided that today they would do lots of exercises. Oliver came up with the idea of building some weights so that he and Jackson could grow big muscles. They decided to use the plastic connector shapes to build they’re weights. After they finished they began to lift them. “Look how strong we are Cam!” said Oliver. Emu Room Update: Amy and Flynn G had a great time playing with the parachute with other children and Maggie outside this morning. They collected balls and placed them in the middle and flipped the parachute around trying not to let the balls fall of the edge. The children thought it was very funny when the balls did fall off. Lewis and Jack enjoyed throwing the ball to each other and catching it with the battens.
