Tuesday, August 6 devotional Good morning, William Arthur Ward, an American author wrote several motivational and inspirational books. Ward made the following statement about adversity; “Adversity causes some men to break; others to break records.” When adversity or problems arise, some people immediately begin to blame and complain, you’ll hear things such as; “Just my luck.” “Why me, these things always happen to me?” And of course people begin to blame God for the adversity. In 1 Peter we read, “. . . don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.” (4:12 NLT) God doesn’t send the problems, but He does allow us to go through adversity for a reason. From God’s perspective, the purpose of adversity is to improve us. Adversity and problems can serve as a mirror, revealing problems within us. The purpose is to help us rise to a new and better level of living. Heavenly Father, grant me the courage and strength needed to make the needed changes in my life. And to allow Your transforming process to do a complete work in me. In Jesus name, amen.
