Tuesday, December 23 In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.—2 Tim. 3:1. Some today who do not know God also believe that the world as we know it cannot go on for much longer. Being afraid of some impending disaster, they have the attitude: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we are to die.” (1 Cor. 15:32) We, on the other hand, are not fearful. We refuse to isolate ourselves so as to cater to our own selfish longings. (Prov. 18:1) Rather, we disown ourselves and freely make use of our time, energy, and other assets to share the good news of God’s Kingdom with others. (Matt. 16:24) We find pleasure in serving God, especially in helping others come to know him. Many in Satan’s world hate us, though, so we may be persecuted for our faith. (John 15:19; 16:2) Still, we do not give out. Rather, we will draw closer to Jehovah than we may have imagined possible.—Jas. 1:2-4; 4:8. w12 9/15 4:7, 9 *** w12 9/15 p. 27 - “You Know Neither the Day Nor the Hour” *** We are fast approaching God’s day of judgment. We still do not know the exact day or hour that Jehovah’s day will arrive, and do we really need to know? None of us want to disappoint Jehovah or Jesus. They have entrusted us with precious privileges of service in these last days. How we cherish the confidence they have in us!—Read 1 Timothy 1:12. We can and will continue to prove ourselves ready. (Matt. 24:36, 44) We are confident that as long as we fully trust in Jehovah and put his Kingdom first, we will not be disappointed.—Rom. 10:11. ********************************************************************************************************************************************* The Collective Effort Some feel that their efforts in the ministry are inconsequential...some wonder if they will ever have the privilege of conducting a Bible study. We may know others that have more studies or experience more success in field service. A former policeman likened our collective, worldwide ministry to what policemen do when searching for evidence. They form a line, side-by-side, locking arms together (I.e., shoulder to shoulder). They all look down at their feet, scan carefully, then collectively, they all take one step forward, then repeat the process until the entire search area has been meticulously combed. In such a process, not all policemen actually find the sought-after evidence, right? In fact, only a few may find pieces of the puzzle. Yet, results were possible ONLY because of the collective efforts of all. Had not all been connected together, had there been gaps in the chain, how could they be sure they found all the evidence? Yes, all in the line are equally important. APPLICATION: Not all of us find many pieces of evidence, or interested ones. We may go for stretches without finding evidence at our feet, yet we all serve shoulder to shoulder, do we not? It is because of our COLLECTIVE efforts that we can fully accomplish our ministry. This helps us to see that Jehovah treasures our service, our effort and presence, not our results. Naturally, the more time we are able to spend in the ministry, the greater the chances are that we will find evidence. We can also do much to enhance our searching abilities: practice and application of the suggestions from the Faithful & Discreet Slave. We are confident that as long as we fully trust in Jehovah and put his Kingdom first, we will not be disappointed.—Rom. 10:11. (Romans 10:11) 11 For the scripture says: “No one who rests his faith on him will be disappointed.. . . Have a SUPER day in Kingdom Service, Positive thinking is simply reacting positively to a negative situation.
