Tuesday Evening Update on Gonzalo. Hurricane Gonzalo continues to strengthen and is now packing winds of 185 km/h with gusts to 220 km/h, making it a Category 3. The storm could reach Category 4 status over the next 48 hours. As we move into Friday the Storm will begin to weaken and quickly work Northward towards Atlantic Canada. The latest National Hurricane Centre track is bringing Gonzalo into our region on Sunday as it transitions to a Post Tropical Storm, with Hurricane force winds. Again, we are still early in the game and the exact track and strength are still very much at play here. Having said that, its looking more and more like this Storm will have an impact on this region (on or offshore) with strong winds, rain & pounding surf, high seas and perhaps storm surge.
