Tuesday News--- Cloudy with afternoon showers, high 61 -------------------------------- A Bay County judge has ordered a 32-year-old man to stand trial on accusations that he ran a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors of $8.5 million. District Judge Dawn A Klida in Bay City ruled Friday that theres enough evidence to try Joel Wilson in the securities fraud case. Wilson was the owner of The Diversified Group Advisory Fund LLC. Michelle Obama will visit Detroit on Friday to campaign for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters and gubernatorial hopeful Mark Schauer. The White House said Monday that the first lady will appear at an event at Detroit Music Hall. The exact time wasnt immediately announced. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan has told a federal judge the city has a feasible plan with the resources it needs to successfully emerge from bankruptcy protection. Duggan testified Monday as lawyers representing Detroit wrapped up their case. Judge Steven Rhodes still needs to hear from his own expert, and other witnesses could be summoned. The mayor says Detroit still could face problems if it loses revenue due to forces beyond its control, such as a national recession, a drop in state revenue sharing or an erosion of Detroit casinos share of the gambling market. Sports: The Detroit Lions will have another new kicker when they take the field on Sunday. The Lions released Alex Henery yesterday after Henery missed all three of his attempts in a 17-14 loss on Sunday. The Lions are expected to work out Matt Prater among others. Prater was recently released by Denver following a 4-game suspension for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.
