Tuesday Tip: If you suspect that your cat or dog may have ingested any type of potentially toxic plant or other substance, do NOT waste time googling advice or home remedies. Either call our office at 402-291-1255, the Animal Emergency Clinic at 402-339-6232, or the Pet Poison Helpline at 1-800-213-6680. Put these numbers into your cell phone contact list right now! (Do not post messages on clinic or PPH Facebook pages, as they are not monitored 24 hours a day.) According to Ahna Brutlag, associate director of veterinary services at the Pet Poison Helpline, they hear it all - pet owners who, after Googling their situation, hope to resolve it by giving the pet milk, burnt toast, raw eggs, peanut butter, or table salt. These remedies simply dont work and can cause additional undue stress for the pet and owner. (In addition to wasting what could be valuable time in a possible emergency!) Be prepared! #PoisonPreventionAwarenessMonth
