Tuesday Tutorial: How to Apply a Cat Eye For Hooded Eyes I have always envied my friends and the models I have worked with that have gorgeous full eyelids (yes, eyelids). They can have their eyes wide open and you can still see all of the beautiful hues and tints of their eye shadows. Well, not me. I am the proud owner of hooded eyelids For those who don’t know what hooded eyelids are, here is a short explanation: hooded eyes/eyelids are eyelids that are partially, and sometimes fully, covered by the skin underneath the brow when the eyes are open. Hooded eyelids can be very frustrating. But here are some tips and facts that I want to share with my other hooded lid sisters out there! Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, and Catherine Zeta Jones to name a few... There is nothing wrong with you. Some of the things I have read online really make me sad – women thinking there is something wrong with them for having hooded lids. NO, NO, NO! Eyes are like any other part of a person – they are unique to every individual. Embrace every aspect of your beauty, you’re beautiful! Lashes MAKE the hooded Eye Girls Eyes sing, but too full and long (Fake Lashes) can look too CRAZY. Try Youniques 3D Lash for a fabulous finish to your lashes!!! You can order from our cafe!! Shape your eyebrows. Having a strong arch to your eyebrows can make your lids appear larger. Place your shadow in all the right places. If you have a gorgeous new eyeshadow you want to show off, you may need to place color above your crease. When applying your shadow look at yourself head on in the mirror and keep opening and closing your eye as you apply the color. This will help you see where to place shadow so it is still visible, this may be on the actual hood itself. If your crease is completely hidden, apply a line of dark shadow above your real crease on the hood. This will make it appear like you have a visible crease. Another great spot to place shadow is on the outer wings of your eyes. Create an illusion. Place a light shimmery eyeshadow right under your brow to create the illusion of bigger lids. It will make it appear that your brow is more lifted and there is more space underneath. Also put white shadow or liner on the inner and outer corners of the eye to make eyes appear larger. Play up your lower lashes. If you have hooded eyelids it’s hard to show off your upper lids – so play up the bottoms of your eyes! Put mascara and shadow on your lower lash line.
