Tuesdays Training Tip: Recently, I have seen a lack of motivation behind my workouts. I have been skipping more than usual, scaling back on my intensity, and I havent done a true leg day in a couple of weeks. This has happened enough to me that I can usually catch it early. When I identify the lack of motivation, I do something I called: Taking Inventory. Here are the steps: 1. Look at sleep. *For myself, I noticed Ive been getting on average 30 minutes less than than normal for the past 3 weeks! Thats 10.5 hours less sleep over the course of 3 weeks. It caught up. 2. Look at food. *Yes, the last couple of weeks have resulted in some poor choices, definitely more than normal. 3. Life stressors. *I wrote on a white board all my projects that take dedicated focus. There are A LOT. 4. Look at goals. *My goals are exciting, no issues here. After you look at each of these areas, identify how you can adjust your life accordingly. For each of the areas I was lacking in above, I created a practice around it to clean it up. I took inventory yesterday. Today, I am already feeling the motivation coming back! When the demotivation bug hits, take inventory, identify whats pulling you down, and make adjustments. I feel a more in depth blog post coming on this one....
