Tuesdays Word-Relationships RELATIONSHIPS John 15:13-27 My uncle preached a wonderful sermon on a part of relationships. Although this will take a different spin on what he talked about, it is still the idea that relationships make the world go round. He spoke on the affects we can have on our children (to the third and fourth generations) if we do not obey the Word (reference Exodus 34:7). But lets take a look at relationships as a whole. A relationship is between two or more persons, places, or things. Some relationships can be good and good for us and others...not so good. We can be bound by a relationship and not know it...while others we have known almost from day one. A friend of mine said that all relationships are not just given but needs to be worked on to succeed. My uncle stressed a point that God gave us relationships and that everyone needs a relationship; nobody wants to be alone. When God made man, He said that man should not be alone and gave him a companion (marriage). With that companion, He gave them the commandment to be fruitful and multiply, so they could have a relationship with their offspring (parenting). But more importantly, He gave us a relationship with Him; Bible says that we must have a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus to inherit eternal life (spiritual). Relationships are the blood lines for the human race. Without the relationship, things die. Think about the man with no kids, his bloodline stops with him. The friends that dont talk anymore; the relationship has withered away and now the kids dont have a connections with the friends family. The loneliest number is one...am I right? If you have no relationship with God, you will feel emptiness at one point or another. But we have a life line in the form of Jesus. I ask you today to check all of your relationships. Re-evaluate them from top to bottom. In all of them, you can learn from whether good or bad...there is a lesson. But make sure your relationship with Christ is a good one.
