Tugged at my heart a little to walk out to an empty sheep and steer pen this morning. During their time spent with us they trampled on the kids feet, knocked them down, drug them around and were responsible for a few tears and frustrations. In particular, a 140 pound lamb with a mind of his own can be quite a challenge for a 60 pound boy. They also made us smile and laugh and provided tender moments of affection at times too. But most importantly they gave the kids opportunities to learn so many life lessons about responsibility, patience, and perseverance. Its with mixed emotions to let them go, but already the kids are making plans for next year. Special thanks to Harris Show Lambs, Crop Service, and Pearson Cattle Company of Barnard, KS for purchasing the lambs at the premium auction yesterday. Their support of our familys 4-H endeavors is greatly appreciated.
