Starting at 11 a.m. EST/8 a.m. PST, the parade will feature an 811 float crafted by DigAlert for a second consecutive year. Kicking off 2015 with a bang, this year’s float will feature two-time Olympian and Team USA flag bearer Cliff Meidl, who perfectly fits the bill for the parade’s theme: “Inspiring Stories.” Meidl’s moving personal story about overcoming severe electrical burns sustained while jackhammering into an unmarked utility line to become an Olympian has helped the 811 float draw attention to safe digging through pre-event media coverage in the LA Times,CBS Los Angeles and KTLA.
