Turning difficult circumstances into change for the better...thats what The Haven does best! When a busted water pipe lead to extensive water damage in two of The Havens Transitional Apartments earlier this year, our Board seized the opportunity to make a much-needed enhancement to the transitional housing program. Construction is underway to repair one apartment, while the second apartment is being converted to a commons area offering a laundry facility, television and a comfortable space to meet. Our Live-In House Parent, Ms. Andrea, will monitor the space and organize community-building activities there for the tenants. Some of our clients had expressed a sense of isolation when they moved from the main shelter to their own apartment, says Executive Director, Scott Gee. The mishap of the broken pipe was a blessing in disguise. It enabled us to make a much-need change. Its important that our clients have a sense of community with each other, so that they can continue to build a support network that will last beyond their stay at The Haven of Grace. The work will be completed late September. Stay tuned!
