Twas The Night Before SB XLVIII By Deann Cameron Twas the night before the big game, and all through the state superbowl parties our 12s would await The wings and party trays were prepared with great care, In hopes that the kickoff soon would be there; Fellow 12s were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of touchdowns danced in their heads; Hubby in his lucky shirt and the dogs rockin their gear All waiting for tomorrow for the game to grow near. When across social media the furor grew greater I hopped on Facebook and stayed up even later Checking in with the Seahawks, I found myself drawn If only to pass time until the next day would dawn The way this team has brought everyone together to discuss everything football including the weather Our flags have been sighted all over the land From Everest to Australia all representing the 12th man With a lively coach, all smiles and quick wit Without a doubt, a fire has been lit His words and example have been sure to inspire His players and fans right down to the wire. More rapid then raptors his players they came And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name; Now, Russell! now, Thomas! now, Baldwin and Sherman! On, Lynch! on Chancellor! on, Haushka and Coleman! To the back of the end zone! Kick the ball through those uprights! Now sac away! sac away! sac away all! Beast snacks on his Skittles before taking the field Knowing those power pellets will not let him yield Wilson gathers his team for a plan of attack For calling a play, he has shown quite a knack The Broncos defense aimlessly wanders around As Lynch plows right through ever gaining more ground There is no stopping Russell and Tate As our Seahawks speed towards their ultimate fate At halftime, its close, as we all knew it would be A hard fought game, played for the world to see Pete has a few words for our players to hear The second half Seahawks, always manage to shift to next gear Sherman intercepts Paytons long pass And the Broncos just seem to be running out of gas The Legion of BOOM has shown up en force Their fierce style of play shows no remorse The third and fourth quarters pass in a blink Like a game that is played back at the Clink Our Hawks have shown what Seattle is about Spirit, tenacity, ability, in that theres no doubt Win or lose, our 12th man is forever proud of our team The best fans in football indeed it does seem; Are ever so grateful for this wonderful ride And will always remember this team with great pride While record setting volume and beast quakes abound The Seattle Seahawks are the best team around!
