Twas the night before Christmas and all Around A-Town, A few - TopicsExpress

Twas the night before Christmas and all Around A-Town, A few creatures were stirring at the ATP & Lounge. The banners were hung along Five Mile with care, Wondering if the CFI soon would be there. Russ Jackson was nestled, all snug in his bed, While visions of re-election danced in his head. And I in my sport coat, with a Lite beer, Was wondering if Pappas soon would appear. And whenever on Beechmont, there rises a clatter, Anderson’s finest will spring to see what is the matter. Away with the old, and welcome the new, New stores, new hospital, Tire Discounters? We have two! The moon on the breast, of the new fallen snow, Use the word “breast” and men giggle you know. When what to our wandering eyes should appear, But a beautiful racetrack, with horses not reindeer. A big economic driver win some money; there’s hysteria, The old River Downs is now known as Belterra. More rapid than eagles, restaurants they came , And Kenny Dietz whistled and called them by name: Now Reef Top Now Arthur’s Now APG Now Jetts, Coming Soon, Grove Park Grille And Dewey’s? You bet! To the top of Wall Street, just the other day, Our Triple A rating saved us 400K. Public Works, Zoning, Police & Fire All working hard; never they tire. So many rooftops, and neighborhoods galore, Options for starters, to mini Biltmores. And in a twinkling of new lights, and street-scapes, The remodel of Clough Pike and Salem are great. Then as I drew in my head, and was turning around, In a big SUV, Pappas came with a bound. He was covered in hair from his head to his toes, And the same pair of jeans that everyone knows. A bundle of dry-cleaning, he had flung on his back, On his way to the Township gripping his sac. His eyes, how they pierce you; dimples so great, Member of the NRA since he was 8. His drawl big mouth was wide open and loud, And the beard on his chin worn like a shroud. His friends, he holds tight; his enemies, they shook, And his fans can’t wait for his posts on Facebook. He has broad shoulders, and a round little belly, That shook when he moved, like Greek quince jelly. He was angry but funny, a middle-aged elf, And I laugh when I’m near him, in spite of myself. A wink of his eye, and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know we had nothing to dread. He spoke four-letter words, but went straight to his work, Some thought he was a hero, some thought he was a jerk. And extending his finger, the one everyone knows, Saving taxpayers money, he stood for a pose. Then he sprang to his Tahoe, to his team gave a wave, And he drove away responsibly on a road we just paved. But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight, Merry Christmas A-Town, and to all a goodnight! Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Josh Gerth - Anderson Township Trustee Around Anderson Township
