Twenty years ago today in Tokyo, I heard Tsuyoshi for the first time at an incredible Odyssey party at a well-hidden venue in a residential neighbourhood. I had been going to parties there for two months, and had just had my mind and life blown into another dimension by Olli at another event just a month earlier. I recognized the language that Tsuyoshi played as being of the same framework as what Olli had played (I had not yet found a single CD or track on my own of this music, and it was all still rather abstract to me) and spent a rather ecstatic few hours on the dancefloor to his blinding set. I would later have the opportunity to hear him dozens more times, having met him in London and had the great fortune to be invited to observe him in the DJ booth at Return to the Source parties on a monthly basis in 1997-1998 before we both moved back to Tokyo the same week in 1998 (I also heard him on three continents in three weeks in May 1997, in New York, in London, and at Mount Fuji). Am thrilled to now be part of the Matsuri Digital team and to hear him continuing to blow crowds away in incredible psy sets. Retro-heads are sure to enjoy this set full of oldies and goodies!
