Twice a year, I do these free presentations for anyone in the sac/or sf bay area who is interested. Thinking of doing it in Sac in mid January. Message or email me if you want to be on the invite list. I have paddled in the biolumenescent waters of Tomales Bay; hiked among the buttterfly swarms in Santa Cruz; dove into crystal clear rivers feeding the Klammath, climbed to the top of Lovers Leap under shooting stars, relaxed in Sierra Nevadas natural hot springs to a rising full moon on a whitewater river bank, watched Thule Elk rut at Point Reyes; elephant seals pound at Ano Nuevo, blue whales migrate past Chimney Rock. I have ice skated on Lake Tahoe ponds, built a snow cave next to my parked car, and swam with giant manta rays. I have spelunked the caves near the Kings River and ziplined Moaning Caverns. I have taken my snowboard into Huckleberry and up Pyramid. And spent many nights in lighthouses as well as at a historic haunted lifeboat station. I learned to surf at a secret town, and carried my daughter to camp at the base of a waterfall. I have seen three feet long Salmon try to bash their way up Lumsden Falls. And I have taken my raft into a whitewater tunnel. I have paddled out under the Golden Gate Bridge many times and watched The City lights slowly turn on from Kirby Cove or from the top of Angel Island. At eight years old, Kasey biked from San Francisco along the waterfront to Sausalito and took the ferry back to Fishermans Wharf. I have snowshoed to a desolate mountain top and wished upon the first satellites while at an old fire lookout. I will soon paddle up to a ghost town in the bay just past albino owls and a old train trestle, draw bridge. All this I have done and was able to sip coffee at a nearby coffee house the next morning... If you thought you had to be Bear Gyllis to do these things you ought know that I now have taken my 12 year old daughter to do most of these amazing things. So what could be better? ... I can tell YOU how, when and where so YOU can too; and even better, you can bring your family along. All this in about two hours... Please join us (to be announced). Learn to plan your own adventures. I have been adventuring in Northern California since 1992 and have followed the weather, wind, tides, constellations and natural phenomena to my advantage. In 1992 it was much different. Today, modern technology and social networking allows you to master in minutes what took me decades to figure out.
