Twice a year, as an HIV/AIDS Ambassador to the Global AIDS Fund of The United Methodist Church, I get tested for HIV twice a year. I get tested on National AIDS Testing Day in June, and on a second day based on availability at Church or Social Justice conferences. Today was the first time I have taken the Insti-Test. Results come back in about one minute. The United Methodist Church suggests all people get tested, regardless of their perceived risk. This would encourage openness and discourage stigma. I would encourage all churches to make testing available to their congregations and their communities.
