More than that, book falls into three categories; romance, coming of age and making peace with the past. The story focuses on a Brandon, NYC freelance reporter who decides to go to Utah after 25 years absence to attend funeral of his friend Tidus, who did more for him than a normal friend would. During the course of the story we learn more and more about what happened in 1977, when teenaged Brandon met Hope. Love blooms between them and changes their lives forever. Book also shows an interesting and somewhat disturbing state of rural Utah in the late 70s. I suppose my favorite character is Tidus, who personifies nobility, with small exception of playing a prank on his friends sleeping bag, which was rather hilarious. Book jumps between 2006 and 1977. Timeline feels somewhat unevenly spread. I understand that majority of the story took place in 1977 but I would love to see more continuity in the structure of the story. One additional note - I really like the cover. That gets an extra point in the review. If you are a fan of romance, youd like this book.
