Twin Blasts Rock Kano Posted by: on July 30, 2013 A purported ceasefire deal agreed between the Federal Government may be a ruse after all as two bomb explosions occurred in Kano. The first bomb went off at about 9.12 p.m Monday night around Ibo/Enugu Road near the International Hotel in Sabongari area of the city, setting off great panic, with the level of casualties yet to be ascertained. Almost simultaneously, on New Road, opposite the Emir Ado Bayero Square, a second bomb also exploded. It happened about 9.15 p.m., PM News reports. P.M News reporter who went round the two explosion sites, said he counted dozens of people sprawled on the floor, with many of them soaked in blood. But the number of fatalities could not be ascertained. Six persons died in both explosions, according to AFP. In a bid to end the incessant attacks, the Federal Government had saddled a community on Peaceful Resolution of the crisis in the north with finding a peaceful end to the strife. The community Chairman and Minister of Special duties Taminu Turaki announced a ceasefire agreement with the Islamist sect Boko Haram, a claim the sect’s leader Abubakar Shekau refuted. Although Boko Haram has not claimed responsibility for the attacks, recent intelligence reports put attacks by the sect at the days leading to the end of Ramadan fasting.
