Twins with wings For the third time that week, my five-year-old son Aaron refused to get on the bus. “I’m all alone at school!” he wailed. When the school put our twins in separate classes, my husband and I thought it would be good for them, but Aaron missed his brother, Connor. “Everything was so much easier before they started school,” I told my mom while we sat in the living room. “This time last year, Aaron was chasing his brother around the butterfly bush.” I glanced out the window at the plant that attracted butterflies. The boys loved to watch the creatures circle and dive around it. “Aaron’s never been alone,” I said. “I wish I knew how to comfort him now.” “I think you’re looking at your answer,” Mom said. She pointed out the window. Hovering around the bush were two butterflies, yellow with black speckles. They looked like twins! Just like Aaron and Connor. That’s what I’d tell Aaron: He was never alone. He and his brother had twin guardian angels! KAREN SPRING, NEW JERSEY
