Two 12-year-olds are now facing charges for stabbing their friend. Why did they do it? To please a fictitious creature, known as #SlenderMan, leader of the horror story website Creepy Pasta. Its easy to dismiss it as an isolated incident of a few disturbed kids, but it should illustrate more clearly how careful we need to be in what our kids come across. Its up to you as a parent where that line needs to be drawn, but draw it somewhere. And even for those that you do allow in - dont let them go it alone. Journey with them in their readings, as they surf the cool things on the web, as they play their games. Not only does it build a better relationship (if you do it as a journey with them, instead of coming across as the hovering parent), it also helps protect them. The devil can and will use any means to get to your children - even through seemingly harmless reading material.
