Two Dalbeattie teenagers standing for Scottish Youth Parliament by-election Four young people are hoping votes will be coming their way in the forthcoming Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) local by-election. The candidates are David Blain, 17 from Stranraer, David White, 16 from Shawhead, Rhiannon Gerrard, 14 from Dalbeattie and Sammuel Glendinning, 18 also from Dalbeattie. The by-election is being held to elect the 2nd member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) for this area, Galloway & West Dumfries. Voting will be facilitated online using the local pages of the Young Scot website, opening at 9am on 7th October and closing at 4pm on 11th October. All young people aged 12-25 living in the constituency will be able to vote for their preferred candidate. The candidate profiles and their manifestos can be viewed on the local pages of the Young Scot website (youngscot.org/local/dumfries-galloway), where the voting will take place. The results will be announced on the evening of Friday 11th October.
