Two LA travel trips I discovered this time around: 1. If you can, fly into Long Beach (LGB) rather than LAX. It is SO fast and efficient and its a similar distance to most major LA area destinations. Each way it only took 20 minutes from plane to rental car and the reverse (and that includes waiting in line for security for departure and getting the rental car upon arrival). 2. Try out the iPhone app Waze. It helps you avoid traffic which is especially useful in LA. Definitely was a major time saver. And it calculates arrival time taking traffic conditions into account. This app can be used around the country (not just LA).
