A vehicle passed by, driven by the defendant Ramon Barajas, a northern gang member. The victim knew Barajas from previous encounters. A few minutes later, Barajas returned with a passenger, the defendant Carlos Eudave, another northern gang member. Gang slurs were yelled from the car and Eudave fired several shots, hitting the victim one time in the abdomen. The victim survived his injuries. The case was investigated by Detective De La Cruz of the Tulare County Sheriffs Office. Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Warren prosecuted the case, with assistance from Investigator Dwayne Johnson of the Office of the District Attorneys Bureau of Investigations.
