Two amazing experiences in Istanbul this afternoon.. First was walking along the street in a city of 16 million only to hear someone saygidday Graeme Toddit happened to be clients of mine from Beijing !! Then we were strolling down what is said to be the worlds busiest pedestrian street( averages 2 million people a day) when we come around a corner to a full blockade of pics in full on armour and riot gear standing around water cannon vehicles .. Coming up in the opposite direction were thousands of demonstrators protesting against what is happening in Syria.. We quickly found safe high ground and watched the face off which thankfully ended peacefully even though the TV film crews and photo journalists had gas masks at the ready!!scary
