Two arraigned over theft Police in Ilorin have arraigned two unemployed persons, Ibrahim Suleiman 22 and Ibrahim Jamiu 23, both of Opo Malu Area, Ilorin, before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate court for allegedly belonging to a gang of thieves. The suspects were being docked on a one count charge of belonging to a gang of thieves, which contradicts section 306 of penal code law. They were said to have belonged to a syndicate that terrorizes Tanke and its environs with motorcycle, and that they have no means of livelihood. Police first information report (FIR) on the matter stated that the two accused were arrested on November 16 by men of the Police F Division Tanke, Ilorin at Pipeline road, Ilorin with unregistered Jincheng motorcycle roaming about without any justification. The FIR added that the preliminary investigation conducted revealed that the accused were unable to give satisfactory account of themselves, and that they were suspected hoodlums terrorizing Tanke Ilorin. The prosecutor, Mr Oderinde Abideen, informed the court that investigation into the matter was still on and urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody pending the outcome of police investigation. The Defence Counsel, Mr Lanre Badmus, who prayed the court to admit the suspects to bail, submitted that the accused would not jump bail and would provide reliable sureties of traceable address. The trial judge M.F Abikoye acceded to the submission of the defence and granted the accused bail in sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum. The court adjourned the case to December 11.
