Two chapters ago Paul was teaching how faith is enabled to grow Romans 10:17 King James Version (KJV) 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Here where we read that faith is apportioned by God - if we put the two together then we can see that our part, our responsibility is to get that Word into our spirits, because that is where wonder-working faith grows, by the Word of God. Not that God capriciously gives different people different amounts of faith, but that our actions can determine that portion of Faith Romans 12 Amplified Bible (AMP)3 For by the grace (unmerited favour of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgement, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.
