Two funerals in two days. Yesterday we laid my uncle Joe Withers to rest and today we lay Mr. Robert Dunn to rest. I remember the sermon from yesterday where the minister spoke of absent from the body is present with the Lord. Very powerful words. We need not be sad but joyous in thinking about the lives these two men led. My uncle served in the military and proceeded to achieve great things in life. He set an example we all could learn from. He always set goals for himself and never failed to meet them. If something didnt go his way, he never blamed another race. He tried harder and made his way in life. I remember Mr. Dunn would always speak as I passed by his home on my way to school. Back then, there was no bus to take kids so we walked to school and got there the best way we could. My heart goes out to the family as we gather today to celebrate the home-going of Mr. Dunn. I ask that each and every person who sees this post, say a simple prayer or pause to think of the family in their time of need.
