Two great Oregon companies are combining efforts to increase the recycling of electronics. Hillsboro-based Export Global Metals, Inc. announced it will invest $4 million in a shredding and processing system in its 15,000-square-foot electronics recycling plant utilizing a Q140 shredder from SSI Shredding of Wilsonville. Construction began last month with full production expected by the end of September and the company expects to increase its work force by more than 25% over the next year as a result. Business Oregon partnered with SSI providing the company a State Trade and Export Program (STEP) assistance grant to help cover the costs of appearing at a trade show in Singapore in 2012. The company’s heavy duty shredders can destroy just about anything you can imagine and videos of them doing just that recently have become a YouTube sensation – youtube/user/bigshredder.
